So long, Summer
Favorites from August
It would mean the world to me if you pre-ordered my upcoming book, Dear Friend! I wrote it just for you and it’s filled with daily moments of clarity, encouragement, and heartfelt inspiration. 💌
Dear Friend,
So often, we rush toward the next milestone without pausing to appreciate where we are right now. Growth is important, but if we don’t take time to honor the progress we’ve already made, it will never feel like enough.
Today is enough. ✨
Take a moment to notice the blessings in your life, to feel gratitude for the present, and to embrace the tiny joys all around you.
In today’s love note, I’m excited to share with you:

Tiny Joys from August
Dead & Company in San Francisco
As many of you know, I’m a huge music fan. One of my favorite memories growing up was driving in the car with my dad and listening to his favorite bands. The Grateful Dead was always at the top of my list. I love going to see Dead & Company perform now as an adult, it always feels like a way to connect with those memories with my dad. I made the decision last minute to go solo to the Grateful Dead 60th anniversary concert in San Francisco. While at first I felt a bit of shame and inner judgment for going alone, it was a great reminder that I do love my own company, and there is nothing wrong with going to concerts (or movies, vacations, dinners, etc) by yourself. I made lots of friends, felt super present and took it all in, and of course, enjoyed the show. Never be afraid to make your dreams and desires happen for yourself, even if it means going it alone!
Signs from Above
Speaking of my dad and music, this August marked the 18th anniversary of my dad’s passing. As the years go on I find myself contemplating what it will look like and how it will feel for there to be more years of my dad gone than I had of him alive. That’s still a few years away, but it shows me what I already knew to be true. The relationship you have with grief never goes away, it just transforms and shifts over time. I often like to look for signs from my dad, especially on special days or anniversaries. This year, I got this song from Eric Clapton, one of his favorite artists, and the first concert he ever took me to. I’m grateful for the messages and signs I get from my dad, it eases my sadness and allows me to still feel his love after so many years.
Celebrating Milestones with Old Friends
I spent the beginning of August surprising my college roommate for her 40th birthday. It’s a big year for many of my friends entering a new decade, and I’ve loved watching how we all approach this new chapter of life. I have to admit I’ve had some anxiety and maybe even fear of turning 40; questioning what it means, what will have to change, and how it will define my life. The truth is, though, age is just a number and getting older is a blessing and a privilege. I’m grateful for all the years behind me with the lessons I’ve learned, and I hold so much optimism and hope for what will come in this new decade ahead.
Book Press!
With my book, Dear Friend, coming out in just two months, I’ve started doing some early press and promotion for it, and it absolutely feels surreal! All these months leading up to the release have almost felt out-of-body to me, and it’s all starting to feel real! I’m so grateful for all of you who have expressed your excitement and support of my book, and thank you so very much to those of you who have already pre-ordered! I’ve learned so much about the book publishing process and I know I’ll continue to learn more. Pre-orders are very significant for a first-time author, they often signify whether or not booksellers choose to pick up the book. All your pre-orders mean the absolute world to me!
